Tunku Mahkota Johor Being the New FAM President

Last Friday, as the whole Malaysia know through either social media, newspaper and so on, that Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim was elected as the sixth president of the Football Association of Malaysia after Tan Sri Annuar Musa make a surprise announcement in Parliament on Thursday that he pulled out of the two-horse race. After being appointed, the first decision that he made was naming Mario Gómez as the new coach of the national team, replacing Ong Kim Swee. Well in this article, I would like to share my personal opinion about Tunku Ismail being the new FAM president.

Honestly speaking, even before he was elected, it’s obvious that Tunku Ismail would be the new president of FAM as we all know that he has already proven his success by transforming Johor Darul Takzim F.C. to become one of the biggest club in Malaysia and even within South East Asia. With the transformation that he had in the club level, definitely he will also transform the whole system that FAM has been using over the past few decades I would say since he gained a lot of people’s trust and also support. Under his management, I would have come out with these following topics will the affect while he be the president of FAM:

Malaysia National Team’s World Ranking

During his first press conference as the new president of FAM, Tunku Ismail also stated that one of his goal is to improve the national team as much as possible. Based on my opinion, I believe that he will definitely impact the national football team because as I mention above he has transform JDT F.C. a lot as the club become the first Malaysian side to win the AFC Cup in 2015. In fact, by the time that his term as the president of FAM, I wouldn’t be surprised that Malaysian National Team’s ranking would jump from 161 to maybe between 100 to 130. On top of that, he will keep his word by improving the national football team’s playing style, philosophy and few other things.

Improvement of Malaysian Football League

As the president of FAM, Tunku Ismail has the power over the administration over the nation’s football. Throughout his term as the president of FAM, I wouldn’t be surprise that there will be a lot of improvement in the national football league since that he has make a huge change in JDT F.C.’s administration by improving the team generally. During his time as the president of FAM, I wouldn’t be shock if he implements a couple of new rule or even improving the quality of the game in Malaysia to make our national league to be more famous within South East Asia.

Improving FAM’s administration

Well for my last point, it would be a bit sensitive but still I wouldn’t be surprised at this time that he will change the administration within the FAM as it’s one of Tunku Ismail’s goal as the president of FAM. In fact, when he announced that Mario Gómez was named as the new Malaysia’s National Team I would not be surprised that he will be elected and also, I believe that he will slowly bring more foreign expects from various field to be brought in to improve the nation’s football quality. With this concept that has already implement, it would be useful for football industry in Malaysia since that Malaysia really needed the changes for over 3 decades.

Well this are some of the point that I can thing about as for now since that it’s been few days that Tunku Mahkota Johor had been elected as the president of FAM. I hope that there will be a lot of changes that occurred within the national football since that it has been going through ‘dark ages’ for the past 3 decades and I would like to wish him all the best to improve the nation’s football scenario to be better in the future.
